We just held a prayer call focusing on the Kurds in Syria, where believers on the ground (identified by their initial) shared the following points for prayer:

The US has decided to switch support from the Kurds, who have been their allies fighting ISIS for many years, to Al Jolani and his jihadi HTS troops (many of whom are ex-ISIS and Al Qaeda) greatly endangering all those in the Kurdish area in North East Syria.

E:

Healing from Betrayal: Pray for those feeling abandoned by the US and the international community, with no defense and no state of their own, struggling with deep bitterness.

Protection against Violence: Intercede for protection against rising violence, specifically targeting women.

Strengthening Ties with Israel: Pray for the vision of a “shared destiny” and that the desire for stronger relations between these communities and Israel would bear fruit despite internal divisions.

V:

Safety for Secret Fellowships: As believers can no longer meet in churches due to persecution, pray for the 70 house churches meeting in secret for protection and spiritual fire.

Breaking the Siege: Pray for the 800 families in Qamishli and the 200 homeless families (between Al-Malikiyah and another city) who are blocked from receiving aid through the Turkish border. Pray for open supply lines.

Reconciliation: Ask for a supernatural peace and reconciliation between the Arab and Kurdish populations in the region.

N:

Healing from Trauma: Pray for those haunted by the horrors of ISIS— atrocities often left out of mainstream media. Pray for emotional and mental restoration.

Provisions in Famine: Intercede for those suffering from hunger and the ongoing siege of their communities.

Spiritual Hunger: Give thanks and pray for the increasing number of Kurds worldwide and within Syria who are seeking the faith and asking questions about Jesus.

L:

Support for the Grieving: Pray for those who have lost friends and family, that they would find ways to preserve the memory of their loved ones and receive support through the grieving process.

Legal Protection for Minorities: Pray for the establishment of firm legal rights for minorities within the Syrian constitution and law.

Peace Amidst Uncertainty: Pray for stability during fragile ceasefires and for an end to the suffocating cloud of uncertainty regarding the future.

Charmaine Hedding:

Pray against the centralization of the Federal government. Pray that the current decentralized, minority-inclusive system would retain control, and that local governments would continue to uphold equal representation for all minority groups. To date, Northeast Syria, Suwayda, and other areas have maintained their own governance and local security structures, rooted in their communities. Pray for this to continue, it offers Syria its best chance at stability.

Pray that the Syrian Government forces would be prevented from entering majority-Kurdish areas that are home to Christians, Kurds, and other vulnerable minorities:

– Kobani

– Qamishli

– Hasakah

Pray that the interim constitution be revised to guarantee equal citizenship for Kurds, Christians, Yazidis, Druze, Alawites and all religious and ethnic minorities, without exception. Without these protections, it will be hard to protect Christians and other religious and ethnic minorities.

Pray for favor and impact as Charmaine shares at the International Summit for Religious Freedom “Syria at a Crossroads: Plotting a Path Away from Violence Toward a Peaceful, Inclusive Syria” which will take place on Tuesday, February 3 at 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM.

Several key US officials will be at the summit — please pray they hear what Charmaine has to say.

Outline of the panels (for prayer purposes):

Panel 1: Voices from Syria’s Religious Communities. This panel centers the lived experiences of Syria’s religious minorities—including Yezidi, Christian, Druze, and Alawite representatives. Panelists provide ground-level testimony on how current developments are impacting their communities, what conditions are necessary for safety, dignity, and a future rooted in equal citizenship.

Panel 2: Policy and Expert Perspectives. This panel brings together leading scholars and policy experts to analyze the implications of these leading scholars and policy experts to analyze the implications of these firsthand accounts. The discussion explores governance models, security arrangements, and accountability mechanisms.

Charmaine also pointed to this article below by Nicole Jansezian which explains some of the political dynamics affecting the situation for those who are interested:
