Support for Lebanon

The August 2020 explosion in Beirut, Lebanon has left the nation crippled, dealing with both political and economic crises. A nation that previously has taken in refugees from around the Middle East, is now experiencing many of her own citizens seeking refuge in other nations.

The Beirut Port explosion has sparked outrage towards the negligence and corruption in the Lebanese government amongst the country’s citizens.  Those who were worst affected by the blast, which left 300,000 people homeless, have urged foreign states not to put aid money in the hands of the government, fearing it would be mismanaged by the corrupt.

In the midst of all this, earlier this month, Israel and Lebanon announced that they will hold direct negotiations to try and resolve their maritime border dispute. Resolving this dispute would have a positive economic improvements for Lebanon, who are facing their worst financial crisis since the 1975-1990 civil war.

Talks began taking place on October 14th, and it may be some time before agreements are reached. Read more about the Israeli-Lebanese talks in this JPost article.

While protests and crisis rage on in the streets of Lebanon, we have friends who are extending a helping hand to feed the hungry and are showing care for the homeless.  For security purposes, we are keeping their ministry and names out of this article. If you would like to support their work, please DONATE and write, “support for Lebanon” in the memo.

Join us in praying for Lebanon:

— Pray that protests and the current crisis would lead to a decrease in Hezbollah’s grip and Iranian influence in Lebanon.

— Pray for a new government to replace the resigned government that will be free of Hezbollah’s domination and control and will obtain the finances to rescue the nation.

— Pray for strength for the ministries and people on the ground leading the recovery from the August 2020 blast in Beirut. Pray for prompt repairs to the four hospitals damaged by the explosion.

— Pray for ongoing talks between Israel and Lebanon. With Hezbollah being sidelined there has been added tension along the northern border.

— Pray that Iran will not use Hezbollah to attack Israel especially in light of U.S. election results and the continued growing ‘Circle of Peace’ in the Middle East between Israel and Sunni Arab nations.
