A shift is happening in the Middle East – ruling powers are changing, old alliances are being broken, and new alliances are being formed. This is especially true for Saudia Arabia, as the crown prince Mohammed bin Salman is turning everything upside down. Maybe you’ve seen the recent reports: that women will be allowed to drive; that hundreds of the wealthy elite, including members of the royal family, have been arrested for corruption; that the Lebanese prime minister Said Hariri was compelled this week to step down by Saudi pressure over his tolerance of Hezbollah in his country. And most shocking of all, the crown prince is calling for moderation in religion and openness to people of other faiths.
