Over this past couple weeks, fighting has intensified in Southern Syria just north of Israel’s border. The United Nations has reported that over 200,000 people have now left their homes in the past couple weeks. The Syrian regime – with assistance from Iran, Russia, and a multitude of proxy militias and terror groups – launched a strong military campaign to regain the area where the revolution began in Daraa, Syria.

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said that Israel is “prepared to provide any humanitarian assistance to civilians, women and children,” but stressed that “we will not accept any Syrian refugees into our territory.”  Jordanian officials announced last week that the kingdom would also not be taking in additional Syrian refugees fleeing the Syrian government’s latest offensive.

Since 2016, Israel has given considerable humanitarian support to Syrian civilians just across the border, most of whom side with the rebels in the Syrian civil war.  Israel has given food, medicine, and offered entry to Israel for life-saving medical treatment. Last week, the Israel Defense Force launched an overnight operation to deliver tents, food, medical supplies, clothing, and shoes to those fleeing the war and seeking refuge.

This weekend a group of us went up to the border to pray over the refugees that are situated in “no-man’s land” between Syria & Israel’s border on the Golan heights. While we there we learned that humanitarian relief teams will be allowed to help these refugees along the border.

Frontier Alliance International is a strategic initiative working in this region, and are part of our ATC regional network. They are currently on the ground and doing everything they can to help those in need.  If you would like to donate toward medical supplies and aid for these internally displaced people, go to FAIrelief.org.

How to Pray:

  • “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart…” (Psalm 34:18) Pray for comfort & provision for the families who have lost everything.
  • “Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear!”…” (Isaiah 35:3-4) Pray for the right teams to develop and the gate to be open for them to go into Syria to serve the refugees.
  • Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Pray for refugees hearts to be softened to receive help from non-Muslims, and that the teams would be able to share with them hope we have.
