Dear Partners / Friends / Family:
As of yesterday, war has once again begun between Azeris and Armenians in Nogorno Karabagh. Armenia has a population of three million with an additional eight million Armenians in the diaspora (eleven million total). Azerbaijan has a population of over ten million. Turkey, with a population of over eighty-four million, is completely backing Azerbaijan. Armenia is a landlocked country with limited resources. Azerbaijan is a wealthy, oil-producing nation. Azerbaijan attacks Nagorno Karabagh, an enclave of Armenians, from time to time. In this iteration of fighting over the last week, over one hundred people including civilians, have been killed and hundreds of people have been injured. If the war goes on, the number of those wounded and the fatalities will certainly increase.
Azerbaijan has the funds to buy substantially more and sophisticated weapons than Armenia. There are several countries including Israel selling arms to Azerbaijan. Nagorno Karabagh and Armenia are fighting for their survival.
We have tens of thousands of believers in Armenia and thousands of believers in Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Let us pray that:
1. The war would stop immediately.
2. Many in Nagorno Karabagh, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey would come to know the Lord and surrender their lives to Him. Let us pray that a great revival would break out in these countries.
3. The Lord would protect Nagorno Karabagh and Armenia. In the last years of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century (Until 1915), almost two million Armenians perished in the Ottoman Empire. Let us pray that this would never ever happen again.
4. One day in the near future, thousands of Armenian missionaries would take the Gospel to surrounding Muslim nations including Arab countries and Central Asia, as well as the Russian speaking world.
