And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.” Philippians 1.12-14

October 12 marks the fourth court appearance for Andrew Brunson still being held (currently on house arrest) in Turkey on terrorism and espionage charges. There have been a number of noteworthy developments in the last few weeks, that have given some hope that Andrew might be released. A Wall Street Journal Article seemed to indicate the Turkish position, as a possible result of economic sanctions, has softened and Andrew might be released.

Andrew’s lawyer has appealed to the Constitutional Court of Turkey for his immediate release after a testimony by a secret witness had been completely repudiated and exposed as false, the World Watch Monitor reported. Andrew’s case has clearly affected not only the Turkish economy but also U.S.–Turkish relations. There are also some rather complicated issues surrounding the crisis of relations between Turkey’s role in NATO. How to Pray: 

  1. We would like to ask you to join with us in prayer with those throughout Turkey, the Middle East and the World for protection for Andrew and his family and for his immediate release.
  2. Secondly, we would ask for him personally (and his lawyer Ismail Cem Halavurt) as he testifies, according to the above scripture, that it might come clear to not only those in authority in Turkey but for the whole nation why he is imprisoned.
  3. Third, that despite the very negative and slanderous media coverage of not only him but other followers of Yeshua in Turkey, that ultimately the body would take confidence through this whole situation and speak the word without fear.
  4. Finally that God would fulfill his prophetic promise regarding the Church in Izmir (ancient Smyrna) and its role to ignite a revival that would not only touch the nation of Turkey but affect the entire region. (Isaiah 64.1-4)
